A Gallery of Memories

A Gallery of Memories

To reminisce into the folds of time

as drops of nostalgia drizzle down

from a blue awning drenched in time

Faces appear, once young

and full of a vigour and vitality

bouncing with youthful expectation

Places re appear as the landmarks

of journeys long since past

Accompanied by an appropriate music

as Marlene Dietrich sings  ¨

Leben ohne Liebe kannst du nicht

in the shadows of a dimly lit German Tavern

Then to the strains of a tango

as Francisco Canaro conducts a milonga

from the estuary of the Rio del Plata

These memorable scenes fuse

as the heady effects of a Chilean Red

waft through the crevices of the mind

Times of intrigue, joy and youthful expectation

in a world that struggled to reconstruct itself

yet again

A time of promise and newly polished hope

where people sought music, dance

and the glittering lights of life so readily available

from the devastated ruins of gutted buidings

Highly effective catalogue of detail lovingly brought to life Keith. Bitter sweet. No mention of McDonalds, Burger King or mobile phones.
