Innocence Sold
Innocence Sold
Hands in empty pockets nothing more than a child.
Weighed down, tired, hungry, afraid,
she wondered was this something she could do.
She had nothing of value to sell.
Other than her innocence.
Hands in empty pockets she knew she could,
the irony was not lost on this woman child.
Innocence sold for a ticket home,
back to the place from which she had run.
She felt its pull now.
The need growing with every tick of the station clock.
To her at that moment, the loss was worth the gain.

Very powerful.
The trials of life beautifully written.
