I Want

I Want

Do you remember playing by the gate
those precious moments that would not wait,
the plays that we would put on
sad to say those days have gone.

Do you remember how we would talk for hours
huddled under a tree during the showers.
Do you remember playing in our den.

I want to be that child again.

Do you remember our first kiss
or the moments that we missed
how bright our futures were back then.

I want to have my youth again.

Do you remember our first child
Or how my music drove you wild.
My dancing to the latest tunes,
you laughed and called me a loon.

Do you remember when you lost your mother
that day was to you as no other.
Do you remember when you lost your twin
no more games for you to win.

I don't want you to suffer such loss again.

Do you remember your first daughters marriage.
how you sat holding her hand in the carriage.
Now, you hold her child so like her
a halo of curly golden hair.

I remember all of the above
It's locked away in my heart encased in love.
