everything you love
is born out of tension
and resistance to
things as they are
you might be feted
amongst friends
as some kind of
worthwhile person
but that doesn’t go
far enough against
a world trying
to destroy itself

This got me intrigued Robert. I understand the sentiment, but does it mean small acts of
protesting the status quo aren't valid? Do small acts of many really change the world? Or are we kidding ourselves - patting ourselves on the back over insignificant acts that make us feel good, or look good, but ultimately won't make a difference. Is this the lament that forces some to carry out acts of terror? Who knows and probably not the place to discuss. Great poem though.
