Spelling Errors

Spelling errors appearing

Appearing on the site

I don't like sitting back

Make out they're not in sight

Your errors give impressions

I dearly want to say

Don't want to see your readers

Just think you're lazy, hey?

So do I come out saying

Don't think this spelling's right?

Or do I leave you with your errors

Say they're out my sight?

'Cause if I point them out to you

I might make you feel guilty

A little not quite educated

A kinda bit word-wilty

We all make typos, errors

We all are here to learn

And help each other improve our verse

I know how to spell ern

Maybe we are of the old school MC - doing the job properly and being proud of it is paramount. It tells the world what counts to us. I am embarrassed to let people know I don't care enough to check my spelling is correct.

Wot ever's 'e talkin' about? ?

I am consistently irritated by a close relation who spells
definitely as "definately". But discretion seems the better
part of valour and I let it pass rather than cause offence.
However, when using words in the public forum as tools to
do a job, then, like all tools, they should be carefully checked to ensure they serve their purpose with accuracy
and efficiency. Would any craft ask for less?

Good subject Don enjoyed the poem. We all make mistakes now and then. The secret of course is not making them again. ?

Wot Brian? You not in bed yet?

You have to make a few allowances because I'm living upside down and spelling seems to get a bit mixed up in the process.

You do however offer good advice , which I adhere, in messaging mistakes privately. It's when I do this and my advice is ignored I simply walk on by.

I thought the subject worth raising. The bottom line to me is I wouldn't want others thinking I wasn't careful enough and would be ever grateful if errors were pointed out (privately) to me.

Don - this is a subject that exercises many minds. In fact there's a WOL discussion thread on this very subject.

Of course, now that you've raised the issue you must now realise you have to be 100% correct all the time?

Personally I would advise that if you do wish to point out spelling errors you should send a private message rather than embarrass the culprit publicly.

A well laid out piece with no spelling or punctuation errors is more likely to be read by others, which is surely the point of posting in the first place.

Good subject Don.
