Grandma

Grandma I wish I got to know you better
You're the reason I graduated
The day you went into the unknown
Was the day our family died

I don't think things will ever be the same
I grew to love horror movies because of you
The day you went into the unknown
Thank you for standing up against my mother

I never got to tell you 2013 was hell for me
No one recovered after you left us
The day you went into the unknown
Was the day I had to start taking care of everyone

I'm sorry I didn't cry at your funeral
I had to be a rock for everyone around me
The day you went into the unknown
Was the day I let you down

the period before my grandma died was the time i let her down?..i've never forgotten nor shed the guilt
your grandma was dearly loved...and she would be proud that you're strong.
Wonderful openness.

Really effective Damon - like a pictorial story and much to the point. Good and powerful stuff underplayed.

I would have called this "Into The Unknown" - both for the
sad death described and for its writer's own sudden future
without her.
I can accept the absence of rhyme when each verse is
presented in this way - terse and to the point.
