Lit Up Showcase and Conference Series

entry picture

It is one thing to produce and create live literature, but how do you go about selling it?

Lit Up 3: Selling Live Literature, is the third and final showcase and conference in this series, and will explore both selling work to venues as an artist or producer, and selling work to audiences as a venue or promoter.

A full day event at the Bristol Old Vic on Tuesday, 16th February, 2010, it will provide an unmissable opportunity to sample the best new live literature and spoken word, and debate and discuss this dynamic art form with artists and colleagues.

Whether you’re an artist or producer, a venue programmer or marketer, come and share your successes and failures and talk tactics with experienced promoters and marketing managers.

The final programme for the day is currently being drawn up, but it will include a special preview performance of ‘Return’, the new show from Polarbear – the West Midlands’ first arctic carnivore poet; and ‘A Night on the Tiles’ performed by spoke word collective Pen Ultimate, which features artists Martin Stannage, Niven Ganner, Frisko Dan, Samira Arhin-Acquaah, and WOL poet and BBC R4’s Slam Champion of 2009 – Ben Mellor. Plus a guest keynote speaker to be announced soon.

Registration is from 9.30am, and the programme finishes at 7pm.

The cost is £50 per person, and discounts are available for multiple bookings, or for artists and freelancers.
