Stage Lights

entry picture

I walk up the stage to preform

I stand in front of the enormous crowd

A bright light shining at me

I open my mouth but nothing comes out

I look around for you among the crowd

But you're not there, you're far away

So I walk down memory lane with a heart full of pain

Hearing your voice again is the only thing keeping me sane

Your voice, oh how I miss your voice

It made me laugh like a child getting attacked

by Her father's ticklish hands in the park

It made me tear like a mother on her son's college graduation

It made me smile like a girl hearing her first I love in a room full of red roses

Your voice, oh how I miss your voice

Like a bow playing on the strings of our memories

Like the warmth of the sun in a bleak mid winter's day

Like a paper burning in the flames of fire

It must all come to an end…

As your voice starts to fade away again

I'm back to the dark place I was in

In the dark shadows that won't let the sun in

I shut my eyes and start sing.

Very moving. Deeply felt.
