shamed

Shamed

I’m hard-up, poor

I look it

So I keep my head down

And shuffle, carefully not touching

Beautiful, clever people:
They must be

Beautiful and clever

To be so rich

Thank God – - -

Is there one? – - -

I’m not yet about to

Sit outside McDonalds

With an open cap

And a dog

Summer’s good: nice and warm.

Winter’s better.

I’m shamed.

The hoodie hides my face

I’ve got a room, I have:

It’s OK

It’s my hideaway

When I’ve shuffled off the day

Without you seeing me

I don’t mind

Being sort of invisible

Outside

Because

I’m not acceptable, or beautiful, or clever.

That’s just the way it is

That’s why I hide

Cleverly written i sense the hopelessness of this person through the simplicity of your words and the comparison between "the beautiful clever "
Well written thought provoking.

A beautiful honesty takes us inside the mind, the thoughts. A poem to remember.
