The Moon Tonight

entry picture

Look at the moon

skirting the window,

what's he looking for?

A glimpse of you perhaps

remembering

the times you used to walk these

hallways naked

or sit at this window

in only a robe.

How he used to attend on you

like a forgotten star

of the the silver screen

long vanished

from a thousand exposures.

Still he appears here dutifully,

projecting his light into

every room

turning everyday objects

beautiful with his touch.

once again, and at the risk of repeating myself, I have to say your poems often take me back to a time and place, often in my youth when I was discovering so much about life, people, the world around me. I am now sitting in a particular bedroom in Brighton remembering a past love. Thanks Tom, but best not linger there too long!

Stunning words here...............

in only a robe.

How he used to attend on you"

Magic distilled in words Tom. The languid picture you seem to portray is instinctive and lovely. I find the lines "long vanished from a thousand exposures" reminding me of an old film negative as you look up to the light seeing just shadows.

so good tom, as usual. these scenes you paint with words are beautiful and familiar. the way you mix realism with slight tinges of regret and sorrow is quite excellent.
