Desolated desert rose

Nothing could I do to ease your pain,
though you were in my reach.
Silently you broke down with torment,
still I failed to pick up your pieces to save you from misery.
Petrified my whole body became, when
screams of being disdained always, I heard.
Love was nowhere to be found, it was just
a sweet mirage in our desert of despair.
Grievance of yours I braced as my own,
this love tempest I still chose not to abhor.
Desert nights are nothing, compared to
the frozen state my heart is in, growing paler from within.
