Human Body

A hand reached out , and smothered the candles flame.
and the darkness filled the temples hall
The new Gods priests departed.
Leaving the abandoned Gods home desolate
Desolate but for an old man
who looked upon God's Image and sighed
And the sun sank down , beyond Parnassus
And Phoebus , departed the vale
Leaving the Judean in his triumph.

My body can take me no further
The strength that I once possessed has gone
But my dreams, They still possess me
Alone they travel on

To a listing bark we cling,
Though almost upon the reef
into swirling waters fear to leap
hope in our hearts still rings

A moments hesitation holds us fast
each rising wave we fear
Bound an Odysseus to our mast
Despairs siren call ever we hear

If I could bring fourth wisdom
As the peach its juice
But my tongue is stunted , as the tree that grows in the shade
You gather about the fire, for its warmth and light bring comfort
But in the morning, you spurn the fire
Which is now but dust why even so am I
As a ripple, upon the surface of a stream
or like the wild seed, fallen from the mouth of a black bird
In the wilderness I am born
Have my span of time, and then am blasted by my own solitude

My hopes are fading, falling with every parched leaf
No great winds shakes the trees
But the gentle, insistent autumn breeze
The leaves where once golden, their outward show
Gave promise to hopes , which time has laid low
For the gold was a gilt, which concealed a despair
for love, leaf and blossom
Have their season and year

My bark of life drifts on
with unfilled sails.
No pilot cons the helm Nor master moves tween decks, to age
that all is well
And Silence does the cockpit fill

This earth made frame, that hopes to pass
Deaths door unseen, unheard
To take passage, to some quiet place
without triumphant herald , to announce my coming
Nor Obsequies epilogue to mark my going

My hopes, they have fallen by the wayside
They are lost, upon the darkened pathways and roads
Keep pace my heart, keep pace.
