Mercy killing - my paean to shopping, because it is my local sport...

Eat, drink, consume, die

All the rest is punctuation.

Blue cross, star buy.

Fulfil your obligation

More junk, more diet.

That'll keep the kiddies quiet

Else, God knows they'll start a riot.

Smoother lines and plumper pout.

Scratch away the self-doubt

Or just scream to drown it out.

Save my breath up for the gym

Dumb me down and make me slim

Force-feed porn on wider screens

To violate your cynic teens

With wealthy thugs and beauty queens.

No sweat, not willing.

It's just a mercy killing.

Culture's hole that begs for filling

Requires a mercy killing.

Which cause or faith to wear today,

fashion gives me choice to pay

And tells me not to hide away.

Well, I feel so fulfilled

with senses numbed and mercy killed.

You'll feel better if you shed some pounds.

Better if your breasts were round.

Better with your thoughts compound,

down and down and down and down.

And didn't I used to think and feel,

Laugh and dance and cry and squeal.

Faith and hope just childhood joys

To cast away with other toys.

Don't mourn them now, your attics filling.

It's just a mercy killing.

Try to ignore the drilling.

It's just a mercy killing.

So work real hard to pay the rent

Can't feed yourself 'cause your time's all spent

So buy an expensive suppliment.

Then go and spend all your regret

On stuff and stuff until you forget.

And if you still feel violated

Take that thought

And intoxicate it.

Great rhythm and some great lines too.
I enjoy reading your work, it is very performance oriented. I'd like to hear this too. :-)
