They only went to pray

 

Forty people went to pray

to hear what God had to say

They did so in peace and innocence

then what happened made no sense

 

As they bowed their heads in prayer

danger of which they were unaware

A pilot did their Mosque espy

and was determined they should die

 

A missile struck at lightning speed

and in a matter of seconds did its deed

Arms, legs and torsos thrown about

on the distant orders of some dictatorial lout

 

Tyrants hold their grip of power

while people die under a ballistic shower

Families all rent asunder

under a calamity of violent thunder

 

Dictators help each other

against their people, to suffocate and smother

They care not for courage and compassion

but only for violence and oppression

 

The innocent suffer by the score

because there is no rule of law

The bastards who are responsible

are not with God compatible

 

My prayer is for peace and love

which comes directly from God above

An end to tyrannical rule 

which is so horrendously cruel

 

To the forty who died that day

may the evil be made to pay

May God be allowed his say

this and every other day
