Within our being and without

Voices of good and evil shout

There is a constant confrontation

Of immense and strong determination

Pulled and pushed by evil and good

Life is often misunderstood

A battle rages for supremacy

Deep in the heart of intimacy

Lightness and darkness in conflict locked

A ship at sea so constantly rocked

Goodness we desire, goodness we seek

But the struggle goes on from week to week

We seek to resist when temptation is sent

But find it so hard to even relent

The beacon of light brilliantly shines out

Then comes the dark with violence to rout

The seven deadly sins do roam around

With their wares they do abound

Virtue does stand as a mighty force

Which comes from God as its source

Victor and vanquished are as one

For in the end great good has won
