SEWER CONVERSION

A sewage worker found Jesus in a sewer

for his disbelief he found a cure.

The sewage system is an awesome place

to find relief and a state of grace.

It could have been the methane's rise

that worked its magic to his surprise

yet to this theory he won't admit

immune to the presence of piss and shit.

It seems that life may be enhanced

in quirky and murky ways entranced

when blessed conversion descends like rain

baptizing the gullible down a drain.

Old Shoes, thanks for the observations. Yes you're right on the button re the last line, although it is of course genuine enough for those thus illuminated. There's so much more you could say re religion, but not here.

Paul aythangyow. Nice twist of words there!

elP: A subtle response thanks.

Colin: Believe it or not your reconstruction was how I first typed it , and now have changed it back again. It is better, and I shouldn't have tweaked it. I thought the poem had a good flow to it ?!?

David, Now we know. Thanks.

Cheers all! Ray

what with Paul's pissy poem and now this pile of crap - feels like the whole of WoL has been flushed down the pan! Lol, good stuff Ray. I think we were all holding our breath and pinching our noses.

just to poop on the parade very slightly - I wondered why you broke up that first verse in that way? Why not:

A sewage worker found Jesus in a sewer
for his disbelief he found a cure.

cheers, Col.

The first time I read this, I could only hear my inner voice speaking while holding its breath..

Hallepooya, I've seen the shite ?

Very, very funny, Ray. I love the imagery (and message) of the last line and......I can't stop laughing. Excellent.

loved the flow of the whole thing. and how the line "immune to the presence of piss and shit" could represent so much more than the literal meaning in the poem. the end however, I may not understand: "baptizing the gullible down the drain". my thoughts on it are that the prospects of finding Jesus is piss and shit of of its own. correct me it I'm wrong.

thanks, Old Shoes
