PRECIOUS FAMILY

entry picture

blood that flows

thru my veins,

hard to live with

harder to live without.

worth the effort to protect

the cord,

like walking a tight rope.

balance is the key...

can't be all about me.

planting a seed

transplanted thru generations,

harvested with great care

encore then adore

each bairn born.

It's a miracle

some satirical

belittle the value,

let it pass by

with a big sigh.

glad I don't understand why

so precious in my mind.

can't find anything more

essential.

until my dying day

I will shield

the blood that flows

thru my veins.

Thank you so much Ray!

Yes Colin I do have Scottish/Irish ancestry. My fathers mother, my grandma, had a very thick accent. She cheated at cards too lol.

I do live in America...born and raised. I love London!!!! My favorite place. The meat pies are to die for. I have been to Paris and Rome as well. Europe is lovely.

There is an robust honesty about your poems Lynn, and this shines through in a sort of declaration of intent that always carries weight for me! You are the bearer of promise and the future.

I was interested that you used the word 'bairn' and wondered how that word came to you Lynn? If you had Scottish or Northern English ancestry? Or is it widely known in North America? I assume that's where you be? All the best, Col.
