Donations are essential to keep Write Out Loud going

the day of the lord will come like a thief

the blind man treads softly on the faces of the damned
a carpet of screaming babes, black foam emesis erupts
as the scabbed feet of the lost soul wanders across the wasteland
all around him flutter the stained glass shrapnel of torn butterfly wings

borne on a wind of ecstatic moans, the virgin, now punctured, eats dirt
he wears a crown of albino peacock feathers, but for that he is naked
and the whispering continues
so much beauty in the world
if only you could see

◄ a king without a crown

Nice one Stu. I am often struck by the sheer immensity of the dichotomy between all that is harsh cruel and ugly on the one hand and all that is beautiful and sublime on the other.

I can't do better than echo David's words entirely Stu. This has the detail and vividness of a renaissance painting with some horror and glory in the swirl.

A real goodie. Ray
