Earth and Sky

So many shades of green

Lime, fern, shamrock, juniper and parakeet

Some bask in the island sun

While others sway in the cool shade of lazy clouds

They all climb

So many shades of green

They all climb

But they never reach the wide blue

And the blue can never desecnd

What is there to do?

Let it rain, let it rain

The sky goddess shed tears for the earth god

Grubby brown roots soak up the tears and green crowns grow

So many shades of green

They all climb

And sing praises to the wide blue

nature.

Really nice use of imagery, like painting a picture. The many shades of green climbing into the wide blue, beautiful.

Really like this with the cyclical nature and link between life and the physical environment. And the link to the etheric, too.

Thanks everyone for your compliments. I was actually inspired to write this as I was looking at the mountains. I'm in a small Caribbean island and there is no escaping a mountain view. There is even a dormant volcano here.

Ooh, gave me chills. I love the imagery, and after reading your bio, I feel like it might be a reflection of your youth growing up in the wonderful places where the world is green and blue.

Simply a beautiful poem and a wonderful vision of a natural world.
