furlough

Is there a saving place

where the spirit goes to wait

suspended in a state of grace

while flesh continues to wage

unwinnable war against worldly

entanglement and bodily entrapment

of the longing human soul?

where heaven proceeds

in shearing tangence

to this willing earthen

vessel and grave--

in solemn parallel,

a whispering beggar

beckoning forward our

sure and final release?

This is a deep subject for me that I find a bit difficult to address in a few sentences. I find that I'm in such awe many times, that I'm rendered speechless. So, I truly appreciate your willingness to broach it so openly in all of your comments. Thanks so much for your kind words.

always much thinking to be done after reading your excellent work. agree with david here, this is biblical and almost like you are asking god himself (or herself, it is the 21st century after all) the questions you pose.

Very inspirational this elp ; you seem to hover beween worlds in your work dipping into the void. I like Shearing tangence - like a tectonic plate shift . As an afterthought it is only after sudden shocks and unexpected change that truths can be revealed - the hardest way.

A beautiful poem. Ray

David's comments summed it up better than I could. I read it through a few times yesterday, and again this morning. This also really flows so well..Thanks elP

Hey, David..

You know, as I wrote this, somewhere between the first and second question, I got this picture of a sphere turning within and at odds with another sphere. I had a hard time expressing it in words, but I couldn't have summed it up any more concisely if I tried. You're right on the nose, my friend, in discerning a most important facet of what I was trying to convey.

Good to hear from you,

elP

ps
I really like the phrase, "drudgery of hope".
