The Fall

It was magic -

For a whole three days I was in a state of eternal bliss.

Then,

Like a deflating balloon,

I sank back to earth.

I thought happily Ever After would last forever.

But I was wrong. -

Happily Ever After turned out to be

happy,

but then what's after?

Like a pendulum I swung from joy to despair.

My ruby Yin was incomplete without its emerald Yang.

I fell from my comfortable cloud

Down...

into a black jungle of uncertainty and fear.

Where am I now?

I know not.

I only know that with every fiber of my being I'm trying to fight my way out,

I'm trying to grope my way through the labyrinth of reality,

but something is holding me down;

something extinguished my light.

I like the innocence of 'a whole three days', and your fine imagery. Keep writing.

A journey so many have taken. I love the third stanza. That's a poem in itself!!

I love it, the persona in this poem is one that many can easily identify with. The struggle is real and there is no true happy ever after under the sun.
