Abuse

Hello my name is abuse
I met you when you were six
I crawled in
left a mark that feels like no end
From this wall to that wall
from right to hand to the left hand
I took away your ability to stand

Hello my name is abuse
and for you I used
physically mentally
I struck you down emotionally
you try to fight be brave
But what's the use
I already took off my boots

Hello my is name abuse
you closed all doors
shut out most who try to care
I lie and say
that they were never there
invade your thought
I feed on your fear

Hello my name is abuse
to me your pain
is my muse
stay silent tell no one
build up that wall
just me and you
I'll consume so you feel small

Hello my name is abuse
I devoid you of good feelings
Leave with anger and sorrow
my greatest dealings
strip away your love
You can give to others
but it will never be enough

Hello my name is abuse
you look for completion
But aslong as I am here
you will never be complete
So fill this whole
with alcohol or substance
the worlds so called pain resistance

Hello my name is abuse
again I lie
there is no God
strike down your faith
strengthen your insecurities
strip away who you are
So that your mind is at war

Hello my name is abuse
I came to you as a loved one
But I never really loved you
I used you to devoid my own pain
Passed to you what was passed to me
So answer this question
What will you Change

Hello My name is Brian
I am victim of abuse
But I  am not useless
nor am I devoid of love
to be my abuser
is my worst nightmare
He let abuse win
but I will never give in
I am different
I am not him
I am the change

Brian,
This is an incredibly powerful and frank poem the like of which I have not read before. The style you use adds to its gravity and the impact on the reader is almost too much to bear. Yet I thank you for it. I can tell it took courage to write but you have written well. Thanks again. Keith
