graduation party

I shouldn't have come..

I should've stayed away

as a signal of my protest

for inviting that boy--

the one from the neighborhood--

the one you invited just to ignore

to prove what a cunt you could be

to all of your snotty friends;

but, then, if I had stayed away..

you wouldn't have

gotten the punch line--

and neither would've they.

Hey Stu..I'm big believer that the word should be sprinkled liberally in the right places. Anyhow, I'm not sure how society decides which obscenities are somehow forbidden while others are not. I heard my son call a fellow gamer a "vagina"..at first, I was taken slightly aback. But then, I thought about how often the word "dick" is used and I thought it serves us right. It's all the same to me, aside from "special connotation".

You know, Alex, I'm not sure if I could write a piece much longer, if truth be told. I agree--the less said sometimes, the better..thanks for saying so.

And you, Ray..if retribution were always so easy. Though, it did feel about that easy at that age. I was never one much for threats, but sometimes you don't have to say much to leave no room for question.

Thanks, all..enjoying all the great reading from each of you, too.

A fine sense of retribution and it feels justified. A perfect picture of a feeling riding out of a background scene. The use of cunt and snotty seem to combine to give a sense of sleaze. Works really well.

This is a perfect example of less is more. The concise structure really compliments the voice of the piece!
