Redemption

She casts a shadow longer than the night

Fear has nested down and it won’t take flight

She wishes every day to be dead

Once she was God’s favourite they walked hand in hand

Now they are barely on speaking terms

She yearns to be free

Will the curse be lifted?

They called her a snake in the grass

Tie her to the mast!

Burn her at the stake!

All she wanted was to be him, to rule

Now her name is the excuse for fools to get away with crime

or sins

did she do all this?

Did she twist and spin like a spin doctor a spider with a web of deceit

or did we just blame her for everything that turned out wrong.

Like a bad omen she sits in the mental health ward

A good hiding place from those who would do her harm

She still has an air of beauty

But tear drops have left indents on her cheek

And a frown is on her face all week

Is there a saving grace a hope for all

Or just a mountainous prison wall

Separating us from the loving righteous people of this world

Is there redemption for devil?

Or merely a jail and a jailer

for those doomed from the start

God do you have a heart for those you lock away from the light of day

and from your love!
