pennies

My eyes are heavy

Weighted by the pennies of the dead

A day with no tears

Comes close to ending

I should let them flow

It’s hurting to hold them

So who can hold onto me today

How will my roots stay strong?

Couldn't i just let these floods

Wash my heart away

Lovely poem. It draws the reader into its mood quickly and leaves the question hanging perfectly at the end

Let it all out, lovely. Sad poem, but beautiful, and one that speaks to the sadness in all our hearts.

The roots of this tree are steadfast and sturdy enough to with-hold the flood Carol. Let it flow and nurture the trunk and branches. The leaves will take care of themselves.
