Banal

Banal keeps you on an even keel
It stops you from dreaming
But at least you can say
you got a fair deal

A dream can never go wrong, if you've never had one
If you make a mistake
It is only you that has another chip off the old soul
Only you need know you've just scored an own goal

There is safety in stasis and excitement in change
Sadly those who choose safety often end up deranged

Hi Emma

Just run across your stuff for the first time and like it, especially this one. Reminds me of the only quote from a Conservative politician I've ever found worth repeating "Inertia develops a momentum of its own" Douglas Hurd

How very true! Good poem.

Change is best served positive and with a firm belief it can be achieved in order to live the dream.
