The Tempest Epilogue by William Shakespeare (Andy N rewrite)

entry picture
Now my words are all gone
And that is left is my heart
Dangling almost out of sight
Please don’t chain me here
In your underground memories;
Set me free
So I can break through these gates
And return to the skies
With the gentle wind
Blowing in a solemn applause.

Cast out this misjudged ending
Intricate in untraceable constellations
Sliced into a broken winter
Tied across deserted sails
Stolen by greying fog;
Come to my arms one more time
Across that bridge
Near where once you heard me
Write these words
Indulge me, forgive me, set me free.

(NB. I love the Tempest and upon the adversary of his death
last month, wrote this poem rewriting the epilogue to the play
in my own words while hopefully retaining the meaning)
