HUMAN FRIGHTS

The Special Immigration Appeals Committee

Was created by Parliament in this great city

of London - famed for democracy's fights

And now the refuge of human frights.

Six Algerians - said to be connected

With terrorist links that were detected,

Appealed against their deportation

To Algeria - a paradoxical situation.

Their legal eagles argued that they

Might be treated unkindly if sent away

To their own land far beyond this shore

And SIAC agreed - and what is more...

Whilst you may find this unbelievable

The judgement said - It's not inconceivable

That these appellants if returned

Would suffer what we have discerned

As an infringement of their human rights

And so we say by any lights

Of how we have interpreted this law

They must remain!  (And what is more

There will be no more to be said

By the home secretary who is led

By subservience to so-called human rights

And sentences us to sleepless nights).

So six Algerians are free to choose

While our elected representatives lose

All sight of their ancient obligation -

To protect and serve the population.

And strangers here from other lands

Can plan our suffering at their hands

While "might" and "may" define their rights

To remain in our midst...these "human frights"!

Harry - agreed! Is it asking too much of our hard-pressed
security services to keep tracks of those allowed to
roam among us when given the benefit of the doubt they
would never grant to their targets via a law that appears
to act in one direction and resembles a colander?

M.C,
It is certainly a situation that needs to be watched
