Sun Bleached Bones

entry picture

Sun Bleached Bones

someone put it in the sun

and hoped that it would grow

but others said it wouldn’t

and they were right you know

not everything that’s in the sun

is bathed in warming light

a lot of it is hard and cold

and isn’t very bright

someone put it in the sun

and hoped that it would sell

but right minded individuals

can tell a lie by smell

so when the crop is harvested

and the fruits are on display

they are shown corrupt and rotten

sun-ripened – who will pay?

someone put it in the shade

and hoped that it would cool

but that someone was incompetent

or worse than that a fool

for now the skies are cloudy

with the blooming of the lies

I hope for truth and justice

and pray the sun will never rise
