Haiku trilogy: Syria
Refugees were helped,
recognised in years gone by,
now slurred as migrants.
Desperate people,
risking life and limb at sea,
flee terror of bombs.
Western hearts hardened,
it took a small boy’s body
washed up on the shore.

Argghh, only just realised I missed two words out! (at sea) what a plonker!
Thank you kindly, Patricia and Stef. Yes indeed, it is hard to imagine such suffering. x
