Thoughtful (and fun)

1.Happy Rhymes

Nearly two years now

Time has passed so fast

Should be more clear-headed

You should be in my past

But all that surrounds me

Makes me ponder…think some more

Realise that I still love you

Wish I could re-open that door

The smallest things surprise me

Bring you to the front of my mind

Swamping me with unwanted emotions

Rendering me temporarily blind

I know I’m being unrealistic

Clinging to that impossible dream

Wishing those feelings would dissipate

Let my eye regain that gleam

All is lost for us now

But I remember all those times

When love filled my heart

And I could create happier rhymes

2.Minding my own business

I was minding my own business

Enjoying my sarnie and lemonade

Reading today’s newspaper

Basking in the sun at the garden table

Then you rudely interrupted

You’re in my ear, trying to nick my food

I wave my arms in Anger – GO AWAY!

Leave me to my newspaper and solitude

But, there’s no telling some people

You keep coming back and back again

Wait, wait, wait…

BANG! BANG! SQUISH!

The power of the Press?

More like the power of a rolled-up newspaper

Worth every penny.

You were a wasp and now you are history

Although you’ve added your own solution to 4 across

Yes, I am particularly good at the wasp dance. Set it to music and it would be fun - arms everywhere, running around like an idiot for something that is 2 inches long.

Advice: Always keep a rolled up newspaper on your body.

Good couple of poems, Andy. Those damned wasps, hey?
