Louise Fazackerley to open new spoken word night in Wakefield

entry picture

Louise Fazackerley will be the guest poet at a new monthly spoken word night in Wakefield opening later this month, organised by Wakefield’s A Firm of Poets, in partnership with Sheffield-based Word Life and Unity Works.

Unity Words will take place on Wednesday 24 February at Unity Works, in the venue’s Cafe Bar. A Firm of Poets, founded by Ralph Dartford and Matt Abbott, has just finished a UK tour, which included helping new poets to perform at each venue, and have received Arts Council England funding to bring Unity Words to Wakefield. The new venture also involves spoken word workshops before the performance, with the five slots for the first night already filled.

The first night will be hosted by Ralph Dartford and will also feature poet Rob Reed and DJ Captain Black. Entry to the night is free with audience members encouraged to “pay what they feel” when leaving the venue.
