Pete Crompton Breaks Ankle

entry picture

Pete Crompton (pictured at an event in Wigan earlier this month), well know, well respected and even loved, North West poet has broken his ankle in three places and is currently in hospital in Southport.

The accident occurred whilst he was roller skating and he is awaiting surgery which cannot be undertaken until the swelling goes down.

It looks as though he'll be in hospital for sometime and we wish him all the best and hope that he has a speedy and complete recovery.

well thanks to all your kind support.
yes snapped the ankle round when falling over on the quad skates (was speed skating)

the op was success and alignment is ok, 6 days in hospital was getting to the point of institutionalisation though I know this is not a long time compared to others. Im thankful that I'm fit and well, thankful that it was not serious injury, Im grateful to the nurses and all who helped when it felt so depressing. We all go thru it and this was my turn. 6 weeks to go till cast is off. one plate, six screws and 2 scars

thanks again all of you and Mum who brought round bits n bobs, Dawn, Tony, Dad Paul...all of ya!!!!

Wishing you all the best. Hoping it will give you a "break" (excuse the pun) and allow more creative verse. Work hard on the physio when possible. bestwishes

Tee hee - I think you'll be taking stick for this for a long time. If you start to miss the thrill of roller skating, you could always try taking a bounce on my trampoline - I put it together and I could remove the safety net for extra buzz factor or you could try bouncing with roller skates on - the possibilities are endless.

Oh dear Peter. If only you had listened to that nice man from Health & Safety. This is the fate of roller-skating oldsters. Get some of those painkillers down you and drift in to the land of the muse and get some poems out of it. Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Sean.

Went to see Peter last night (Saturday) he was very tired and sleepy so not much talk, (for a change) lol. He has the op ok, and will be getting the plaster on in due course, what colour do you think he will go for, plenty of signatures coming up I predict to write on it, and maybe some poems too. He will be fine I am sure, will need to take some hints off the chap on the tv advert that performs various tricks with his plaster cast and crutches, lol.
Thanks again for all good wishes, June , Peter Mum xx

Enjoy your bed rest Pete. I'm sure you will get to know all the nurses very well and as your mum says - you'll come out of your confinement with some interesting poems...

Arrr hey, Pete, this shouldn't happen to someone as energetic as you. It just ain't fair!

Hope you are bearing up. Don't let being in hospital get you down. Speedy recovery is what we need from you - and that's an order.

Will you come to Bards poetry night on crutches? Or will you just send a hologram?!
X steve (and JUNEY)!

My beautiful son is ok, a little down as he waits for his operation, the sooner its done the better then he can get home, yes it will be a long job in recovery but that wont stop him from getting on with things, I think some very interesting poems will be on the way from all the expericence of being in hospital, so watch out folks.
