beyond human (ascension)

We work, we sweat blood

We exchange childhood tears for fears.

We exchange lies for excuses

telling ourselves we are useless.

In amongst the clammer, the dust, and the heat

we repeat the same mistakes that we keep-

in the desert place of our soul.

We feel we have no control

angst becomes ingrained in hearts

Will we repeat the same mistakes or determine our own fate?

Before it’s too late!

I would like to think so!

But we are taught from day one to inherit our heritage

There is nothing with a bit of culture

But when it’s the culture of consumption

It’s the culture of destruction and corruption

We drag behind us like baggage

And ravages us from within!

So change your ways

Make your own way

Today not tomorrow

And don’t listen so much to well wishes,

critics and the just plain rude

Be a person!

A new version of a human

Go beyond skin

beyond the animal inside which craves attention

the bleeding heart with its false pretension

go even beyond the scientist who uses logic and invention

find your own way

It will be your ascension

and it will be your day so seize it!

HI Daniel, very nice poem, I like the content, its all very real, and all negatives can be looked at as positives, if we try.We all have the ability to be more like God, then we think. To rise above all that brings us down. good poem!

Nice work, Daniel, but you may wish to check your spelling and grammar.

"It will be you ascension" that's the most obvious typo. However I like both the content and the form very much. :)
