Boundaries

This is mine and that is yours

I will not take it on

regardless of the games you play

or acts you act upon.

Here's my line and that is yours

let's notice whose are whose.

I will not venture from my own,

nor aim to 'win' or 'lose'.

I filled my moats with honesty

and values of my choice.

I chose my words with candour

giving my hearts meaning voice.

I won't let you control me

or encroach upon my space.

I will defend respectfully

if you invade my place.

But if I let my draw bridge down

that's different altogether.

It means I think you're worthy

to observe me without tether

but still know I'm the gate keeper

I hold the golden key

and whether you can stay here

is entirely up to me.
