Anger

What are you doing grandad

No you can't call the police,

I haven't done anything wrong grandad

And I've just been released.

It'll save a lot of grief grandad

If you tell me where the money is,

Just tell me where it is grandad

before I do the biz.

There you are grandad

two lovely black eyes,

Don't mess with me grandad

don't tell me lies.

Is that all you've got grandad

give me your card

Give me the number gandad

before I hit you very hard.

O now c'mon grandad

I didn't mean to do it

I just need the money grandad

 to get me through it.

Got nothing to say grandad

I know you've bashed your head,

I can see a pool of blood grandad

so I'm thinkin you must be dead.

This was true, taken from news footage of a young lad who beat his grandfather to death for drug money.

The banal cruelty and self-obsession that feed
much "ordinary" crime are well caught in these
lines. I felt I wanted to reach out and give
this "mark one"(**) pillock a good shaking.
(** a forces pal had a system in which he
categorised human intelligence and worth from "mark one" upwards).
