Poetry shortlists revealed for Wales Book of the Year

The poetry shortlists for authors writing in English and Welsh have been unveiled in the 2014 Wales Book of the Year award. Three authors are in contention for the top spot in each category and will each pocket £2,000 as winners, with the overall winner in each language category winning a further £6,000. Winners of the 2014 literary prizes will be announced at an award ceremony in Caernarfon on 10 July.

The Roland Mathias poetry award shortlist (English language): Barkin!, Mike Jenkins (Gwasg Carreg Gwalch); The Shape of a Forest, Jemma L King (Parthian Books); Pink Mist, Owen Sheers (Faber and Faber).

The Welsh language poetry shortlist: Rhwng y Llinellau, Christine James (Cyhoeddiadau Barddas); Lôn Fain, Dafydd John Pritchard (Cyhoeddiadau Barddas); Trwy Ddyddiau Gwydr, Sian Northey (Gwasg Carreg Gwalch).
