Spokes cycling anthology to be launched at Otley Word Feast

entry picture

An anthology of poetry about cycling will be launched on Sunday 30 March as the culmination of  Otley Word Feast, a three-day celebration of written and spoken word in the West Yorkshire town.  The launch of Spokes, published to mark Le Grand Depart of the Tour de France later this year, with an introduction by Ian McMillan, and including poetry by poet laureate Carol Ann Duffy, Carole Bromley and Char March, as well as Write Out Loud regular MC Newberry, is invitation-only, but you can get hold of a copy here. The Feast also includes an appearance from Char March, Sonnets and Scones, and an open mic poetry contest. More details

As a keen cyclist from boyhood - now much reduced
after a crashing fall that left some restriction
of movement - it was rewarding to have a poem
selected...especially one that allowed humour as
its theme. I wish this publication every success
in the approach to the hugely important sporting
event that is "Le Tour" and its start in Yorkshire
later this year.
