Steven Waling and Rachel McGladdery at Write Out Loud Sale

entry picture

Steven Waling and Rachel McGladdery are guests poets at Write Out Loud Sale at the Waterside arts centre, on Tuesday 18 February. Steven Waling is the author of several books of poetry and has published widely in magazines and online. He sees himself as an experimenter, cutting and pasting and following his poetic nerve wherever it chooses to go. His books include Travelator, Captured Yes, and the forthcoming Hello GCHQ.

Rachel McGladdery is a poet living in rural Lancashire with her four kids and pets. She is published in magazines, online publications and anthologies, and writes in a variety of styles, from political rants, through confessional and sometimes unsettling performance poems, to lyrical observation. Rachel was winner of the Liverpool Lennon performance poetry prize in 2010, so it’s about time she won something else!

New host John Darwin added: “Newcomers are especially welcome, and open mic time is usually limited to four minutes, depending on numbers. Derek the Dinosaur will also be making his debut. Be kind to him - he is very shy!” Entry is £3/£2. It starts at 7.30pm. More details and Map

This sounds like a good one! I shall come along to hug Rachel and heckle Steven ;)

What a great contrast of styles - it should be an interesting evening.
