ThePoetry Spoke - February Open mic & Guest Band

entry picture

ThePoetry Spoke returns -
Thursday the 6th of February - 8pm!
This time around it’s Open Mic
&  Guest Band - Toe Rag Duo

Gallaghers Pub & Barbers - 20 Chester Street

Birkenhead - Wirral - CH41 5DQ

Of our Guests -

An International flavour comes to ThePoetry Spoke this Thursday as Helen Maher & Paul Dennis entertain us, collectively as the Toe Rag Due.  Helen has gone down a storm at previous nights with her wonderful accordion and vocals.  Dennis a technically gifted and passionate guitarist brings a real gusto and a naturally wider sound.  Stylistically, whether it's a chic Paris cafe number, an eastern European Waltz, Irish dirge or even Southern American jazz classic, the sound between the two beautifully marries - very Bohemian!

I think blue stage lighting for this gig!

Alongside our Guests -  the wonderful you!!!

In our Open Mic.

6 minute reading slots are typical - dependent on numbers - maybe longer.
A very warm welcome for all from far or near in an award winning location. Right next to public transport links – award winning CAMRA beer –

late licence – bright lights – stage – great pa – rowdy in a good way in the breaks –

pin drop quiet when you read :)

Don’t sit in with the idiots lantern! To read your poetry, to hear music in words and words in music.  Join us!  The antithesis of TV culture is near, we’re ThePoetry Spoke!

and we're here;
