Deadline approaching to enter National Poetry Competition

The 31 October deadline is fast approaching to enter the £5,000 National Poetry Competition. The top three winning poems will be published in Poetry Review, and the winner is also invited to read at the Ledbury poetry festival in July 2014. Winning and commended poems will be published on the Poetry Society website when the competition prizes are announced in spring 2014. The judges are Julia Copus, Matthew Sweeney and Jane Yeh. Each entry remains anonymous throughout the judging process. More details

 

Other competitions with 31 October deadlines include:

Geoff Stevens Memorial poetry collection prize: Two winners will have a poetry collection published by Indigo Dreams and receive 25 copies. Submit a selection of 10 poems, each one up to to 36 lines. More details

Ariadne's Thread £300 poetry prize: The winning poem and three commendations will be published in Ariadne's Thread issue 9; shortlisted poems will be published either in the same issue or afterwards. Judge: Armando Halpern, editor of Ariadne's Thread. Enter online

The £750 Sussex Poets’ competition, for poets connected to Sussex. The judge is John McCullough. More details here and here
