If I was a Jazz singer.

music would be a kaleidoscope to focus my vision,
I would listen whilst dancing with my mother in our kitchen
she would laugh and I would smile, life would be pitch perfect
and every hour, minute, second to get to this point...it would be truly worth it.
cause lately there ain't no sunshine in this place,
no Jazz to replace the reposing look of sadness on her face
maybe people need a change of scenery once in a while, a life to live
what's a life if denial outweighs what you had left to give
so make today & father never chase tomorrow
remember a sunrise is given - it cannot be borrowed.

find (you)rself

and if I sang songs,
they would no doubt last forever,
be a special part of a time lost but remind me of a place where
we had everything.
I don't like to exercise, but my mind races
- fast cars in the late nights
burning petrol just to leave their mark on this earth.
I'm driving just to find my worth.

It's mans words that truly moves mountains
what he said isn't important
it's what he is going to say...
even if to the world he shows a hollow host
this tongue is the true poet
and as his teeth grinds his gears
he is delighted to find you here.

skies fly by and mountains remain
stale, clasped upon the lump in your throat
holding on as if life was precious
scratching your emotions
- spiders trailing on church windows past midnight might they be.

when you find the light in your life
hold on to it,
as I did, the yellow rose
that to this day reminds me of our time together.

If regret is where your torch light leads you
maybe you'll find me there,
pity me not though
I'm holding your place in this long line of empathic endings.

my imagination will tell you a collection of short stories all about me
you and us...
as we smashed this paper-weight world with our smiles
how you hung on to me through it all.
like I was the puppet on your string
and every second was a life-time spent.

you are the God in this Church I call a body.
