30) This morning I went for breakfast but,

I found the Taco Bar was shut

Still no dismay, I’d get something on the way

To Lamesa to give my best,

Helping promote the Forrest Fest

Get the event alive for when the other guests arrive

Connie had said “drive careful comin’ here

an’ keep an eye out for runaway deer”

Car loaded and started, from Austin I departed

A gas station and time I'd save, buy something to cook in their microwave

Saw statue of Jesus and went to pray, and quietly to him did say

Bless all travellers on the road, whatever their load

Jesus I pray to thee

Don't let me endanger others, or them endanger me

It was the Sabbath the roads were clear, I drove with nothing to fear

Did I get there safe? "Yes" an' didn't use my GPS

So I guess you could say, it rested on the Sabbath Day

 

31) Lamesa and straight to see, what happened to last years tree

Planted with good intent, to commemorate last years event

To keep it alive poeple tried, but all in vain sadly it died

Standing there stark and grey

I touched it said "sorry" and came away

 

32) Hot wind blowin. barbecue glowin

Smell of cooked meat, time to eat

All work done, now culinary fun

No need for haste, savour the taste

Tuck in eat away, tomorrow's another day

 

33) Suitcase opened stuff put away, ready for another day

But I could see, not all of it had come with me

I'd left my deodorant at home now I find, In Austin I'd left my shampoo behind

It's like when I went camping in a Boy Scout tent

I'd always come back with less than I went
