In The Frame

We met in an antique shop,

while you were sifting through

dusty memories

and tarnished gilt.

I was new and bright -

just what you needed in your life

at that time of regrets

and heartaches.

So we went home together

and you placed me on a pedestal.

The centre of a universe

that orbited your soul.

I put my arms

around your family -

and when the children came,

I held them close.

Holidays.

Weddings.

Births.

Parties.

Each passing moment

safely stored

behind my

window gaze.

Until the dust

finally settled

on your life

and you sought

the comforts

of a digital

lover.

Now I sit,

unwanted,

where we met

and think of all

the memories

we shared

before you

strayed.

a day in the life of compin the frame

Out with the old and in with the new - love it!

It would never be chucked out if it were mine - I find moving screens distracting in a lounge area - I prefer the traditional fixed photo fame.

I must admit to never having taken piccies at funeral though ;

A very enjoyable read.

JC - it's not over till the fat lady sings - I haven't seen a list of poems for judging on yet...

I agree. Excellent idea and delivery.
Is it too late for you to submit it for the inanimate objects comp?
