I am a protesting poet

With an all-purpose axe quick to grind;

If it's unjust I'm ready to show it

Using whatever words I can find.

 

I will not be limited by brevity,

And sometimes get carried away;

And I've no time for frivolous levity

Making light of what I have to say.

 

Don't try to woo me with good humour,

I can never be influenced by that;

Too busy making fact out of rumour

(But..psst..keep it under your hat).

 

I tend to be seriously serious

About what is happening today,

And if you dare be deleterious -

Beware of what's heading your way!

This protesting poet's here to stay.
