Our Guest Poet

David R. Mellor

'Powerful Stuff' think Independent radio.  'A feel for words' say BBC radio.  'Sends shivers down the spine'  BBC TV Big Screen, 'a moving performer' thinks Tate modern Liverpool.

Impressive quotes from a dynamic poet who makes a big impression.  David's poems are at times; stark, hard hitting and cutting at others emotional, gentle and thought provoking.  He visits very differing places and I'm not talking location.   Closed shops in tired streets say more about who we are, mobile phones close off communication. Politics on a international scale fails lives.  Separation and the nature of our modern existance so often divorces us from the feelings and connections that ultimately matter.

Mining realities and human moments out of the significant and particularly the seemingly mundane.

Our Guest Band

Beggars Bridge

A fantastic Folk and roots music trio made up of Alan Ainsworth (vocals and guitar), Brian Longman known locally as 'Bass man Brian' (vocals and Bass guiar) and Martin Bresnan (Vocals guitar).  Two thirds of Beggars Bridge previously played as Guests musicians at ThePoetry Spoke back in March to a rousing reception and calls of     encore!

Recently in the studio recording their lastest album; below are a couple of their songs performed by Alan in solo sets.
