This sporting life: poet Terry Caffrey at launch of museum show

entry picture

Poet Terry Caffrey will be performing and running a workshop on Saturday 14 July to help launch an exhibition at the newly-opened National Football Museum in Manchester. Our Sport Our Life is presented by young volunteers and tells the stories of Greater Manchester sporting successes. The event at the Urbis building, Cathedral Gardens, Manchester, runs from 12-2.

The Sports Heritage Network created the Our Sporting Life project, part of the Cultural Olympiad. Stories to feature include those of British Paralympic athletes Simon Jackson and Shelly Woods, local sporting heroes Steve Pullen and Sunny Lowry and rising young athletes Megan van Essen, Gabriella Marshall, Thomas Moss and Natalie Pritchard.

Terry Caffrey is one of the National Football Musuem’s Streetspeak group of poets who have been leading workshops with over 1,000 young people, encouraging them to write and perform poetry in a three-year project that will lead to publication of an anthology this year.
