Hotel Shower

I look up

Diamond light falls downward

The mist stills time

And I catch you

Clasp the love

Wistful and listless

That drips between us

Naked, exposed and alone

Arms holding knees with unease

against the hotel window

A beautiful view over the city

Meaningless lives scurry below

I tell him it the most important year of his life

He looks

He puzzles

He thinks

He saddens

He moves to cleaning up

Damp towels and underwear

The mess that can be seen

It doesn’t clean up

The mess in his head that can’t
