Nobody...(following a divorce)

Nobody calls or knocks or texts or phones

Nobody to hear my fears, hopes or moans

Nobody to say Hey! I missed you today

Nobody to say don't worry love I will pay

Nobody to say hello or good morning dear

Nobody to help make one full of christmas cheer

Nobody to hold you with a loving warmth and care

Nobody to talk with, make love with and to share

Nobody to help, or be helped with that little chore

Nobody to walk with along a sunny or windy shore

Nobody there now to have and to hold

Nobody there now I'm growing old

Nobody to help occupy an empty heart

Nobody there now to even hear one fart

Nobody to sleep with on a cold winter's night

Nobody to be objective with, no I did not say fight

Nobody to cuddle or hug when you feel down

Nobody to wear that spare pink dressing gown

Nobody to care when you are sick or in pain

Nobody to go on holiday with, even to Spain

Nobody there now to say ' I really do love you'

Nobody to say stop worrying it's only a cold, not man flu

Nobody to say 'I think you are doing it all wrong'

Nobody to walk around sexily with nothing on except a thong

Nobody there now to share that once favourite song

Nobody there now - still it won't be very long.

Thanks for all your varied comments...I did write another poem entitled 'It's Such a Quiet Life'...but to be honest I prefer 'Nobody'...if you sort of know what I mean? lol

Many Thanks/Peace and Happiness - Graham x

Love the title. Brings to mind the old song of the same name by Egbert Williams that Johnny Cash recorded on one of his last albums.
The repetition works well in its context.
"Nobody" equates with loneliness and so many people either identify with that - or fear it.

Graham I enjoyed your poem - read it several time to savour the wistfulness of each line. you have encapsulated all the little things that make a relationship and highlighted their loss so well with the repetition of 'nobody'.
I Like the hopeful note at the end.

Hi Graham, 'NOBODY' sounds like a sketelon life. I know I'm an old funndy-duddy who writes in the 'box' and prefers more rhyme and metrical control. Notwithstanding, your observations are from deep down. I can allmost feel the pain of separation. Nice one!

well in that case,I will phone later
but it will only be to ask
can I borrow the thong
and spare pink dressing gown?

As for Spain......mmmmm
but if you are paying?
DEFFO!
