i was scraped off the road

and lifted in the warm arms

of someone

a man ill never see

as close to god as there can be

i can only tell the tale

i wish hed left me there

black smashed in the tarmac

it was the only peace ive ever been.

but no one wants to know

i smash my head off the wall

i rip my heart out in the open

I cry for any one beast of hell to dare

devour it

but theyre all gone home

i carve a blade of steel into my wrist

for someone said it equals the twist of a demon.

they were talking about something else

it is an irritation

less than flea.

 i am sick and pounding

my hands into the ground

its made of stone

with bits of broken bottles and a smashed up phone

gravel and glass congeal in my palms.

there is no heaven

just a return

its purgatory again

theres no one in

just a dead tone...

yes your right. its a crap line.

the only peace ive ever known is better, but then 'no one wants to know' follows it so i changed it. feel free to suggest a better one x

I too loved
'i was scraped off the road
and lifted in the warm arms
of someone
a man ill never see
as close to god as there can be'...
I had no probs putting myself there in the moment but did stumble [ever so slightly] over
'it was the only peace I've ever been'. Ummm?

I love this, and can relate to it all too well. This is beautiful and Plath-esque (prob'ly why i like it so much).

thanks for all comments. it gives hope to know anyone is interested at all...theres someone out there...its a 28 days later moment.

francine, it is romantic in the true sense of the word. i thought he was jesus this paramedic as i had just come back from unconsciousness and there i was in his arms. he also had long hair so it was an easy mistake to make. i tell this story all the time. it was a defining moment. its sad though as the memory of euphoria is wrapped in the idea that id have been happier dead.just me and my paramedic jesus angel, i was happy for a minute.it was more likely a sudden rush of blood that did it.
theres no place lonelier than on a trolley in the corridor of a hospital. coming round ive never felt a stronger need for reassurance that there was somebody else in the world.

Fascinating to read - full of resolve.
The romantic in me loves this...

'i was scraped off the road
and lifted in the warm arms
of someone
a man ill never see
as close to god as there can be'

My favourite verse is...
" I smash my head off the wall
i rip my heart out in the open
I cry for any one beast of hell to dare
devour it"
Like the desperation and steady flow.

Brutal, fierce, can feel the madness in this

Killer verse:

its made of stone
with bits of broken bottles and a smashed up phone
gravel and glass congeal in my palms.

thanks stella, ste

i like the idea of a johnny cash style song. i could ask bill brierley to do it at guitarnverse maybe, hes a dead ringer for cash on the vocals. :)

its a good job we get second chances or there really would be no one here x
